Twitter’s ‘are there more wheels vs doors’ debate has opened a can of worms as users are now classifying various different objects into either of the categories. The latest question is ‘whether a drawer is a door.’

We love ourselves some intense Twitter debates every now and then. But, the wheel vs door debate has metamorphosized into a never-before-seen discussion on the platform.

The latest question trumping many people’s logic is whether a drawer is a door.

In the technical sense of the terms, a Drawer is not a Door.

A door is a flat object, used to open or shut a room, cabinet, automobile etc. Moreover, doors have hinges and they swing open.

On the other hand, drawers are hollow storage structures that have wheels of the sort that slide open horizontally.

As Twitter user @Dilly_SD explains: “A drawer isn’t a door, a desk isn’t a door, but a cabinet is absolutely a door, it’s on a hinge and functions like a door.”

Technically, doorknobs fall under the category of wheels.

A wheel is any circular object revolving on an axle and is fixed below a vehicle or other objects to enable movement.

A doorknob is considered a wheel and axle owing to its design. While the knob acts as the wheel, the rod connecting it to the door is treated as an axle.
