Ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher had his own luxury camper by Slovenian campervan manufacturer Robetta.
Ralf Schumacher (47) knows how to enjoy life. The brother of former F1 star and racing legend Michael Schumacher (53), who died in a skiing accident, has been working on his wine line for years. The “Schumacher Collection” grows at a winery in western Slovenia, where he can often be found in person to assess production conditions and taste his fine wines.
Schumacher is also an outdoor fan and he had a Robeta Apollo based on a Fiat Ducato by another Slovenian campervan specialist, Robetta, a while back. But apparently the Apollo still wasn’t luxurious enough for that, which is why Schumacher has now designed a new camper van with the Robetta, which can also be ordered by private customers as a Schumacher version. And this campervan meets the highest standards of luxury.
Based on the Mercedes Sprinter with a length of 7.36 m and about 4.1 ton, the Robetta is powered by a two-liter diesel engine with 190 hp and can be ordered with rear or all-wheel drive. A nine-speed automatic transmission takes care of the power transmission, and dual tires are mounted on the rear axle. Schumacher established from the factory everything that the Stuttgart automaker’s product range has to offer in terms of technology and support systems. At the request of the ex-F1 driver, a much wider body kit was made in front of the Robetta.
But it is particularly spectacular in the interior: passengers are surrounded by fine furniture and high-quality materials that are made by a luxury yacht manufacturer. Black Kerock dominates in the kitchen unit – a material similar to marble but significantly lighter. A floor resembling real wood, white fabric and a light marble contrast adorn the interior. And dog owner Schumacher also thought about his four-legged friend, who can relax in his lounge area right next to the entrance area—which also includes a retractable feeding bowl.
But the kitchen is also equipped with everything a luxury camper heart could want: induction cooker, large fridge with separate freezer compartment, microwave and even a dishwasher are on board. Plus lots of customizable shelves and nice details like a spice cupboard hidden behind the fridge. What a wine lover like Schumacher shouldn’t be without: a wine cabinet for perfectly tempered wines.
The pull-down bed sits above the pull-out seating group and automatically lowers at the touch of a button. Particularly clever: the slotted frame that can be pulled to the side, opening up a sleeping area that is 1.75 meters wide and 2.10 meters long. All functions of the camper can be controlled through a large touch screen. The occupants also have access to the JL Audio sound system, which costs around 10,000 francs via Bluetooth.
Robetta has installed a bathroom in the rear for everyday needs, which can be closed from the rest of the camper with a sliding door. Even if space is limited, there is a shower cubicle with a rainforest shower, a black sit-on washbasin in front of a large lit mirror, and a high-quality ceramic toilet.
If you want to enjoy more luxuries like Ralf Schumacher on the go, you’ll have to dig deeper into your outer bag as well. About CHF 280,000 will be due for the Robetta Schumacher version, whose production will begin in the autumn. Customers ordering today can expect their luxury camper in March 2023, as announced by the manufacturer.
