Who knew Alberta had so many?
From roller coasters to petting zoos, there are plenty of exciting things to do, ride and laugh about around the province and this spring – with our seasonal hopes higher than our parents’ expectations, we figured it might be a nifty idea to break down some of the best spots to explore in 2022! For your amusement, here are 12 fun parks you can explore in Alberta when the sun is out!
Located only minutes outside of Drumheller, fly, putt and zip your way around the track at the Cactus Coulee Fun Park – a locally beloved amusement facility that offers everything from mini-golf and bungee trampolines to go-karting and camping… which we’d definitely recommend if you’re a sucker for a nice view. Check it out and enjoy!

Dinosaurs? Yeah, we’re a big fan too. This sunny season, check out Alberta’s Jurassic Forest – a prehistoric spot where you can do scavenger hunts, hop on rides, and get up close and personal with lifesized herbivores, carnivores, as well as fellow primitive nerds, like us.

They’re back! Alberta’s only outdoor amusement park reopens this May with all 32 adrenaline-pumping rides open and ready to whirl (as long as the weather permits.) From games to shows, carnival food, and more this uniquely Albertan spot is truly one of a kind and a ton of fun.

We’re in for a long hot summer and there’s no better place to escape it all than by taking a trip to the Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash Park – a giant inflatable on-water park with obstacles, trampolines, and launch pads. Sadly, those looking to check it out will have to hold off until July to do so – but it’ll be worth the wait, we promise!

Located in Drumheller, Barney’s has a variety of very different activities for the entire family. With a petting zoo, a corn maze, tire swings, ziplining, giant slides, an obstacle course, and a dino-walk with life-sized dinosaurs, this place really has it all.

With 30,000 square feet of space and 25 ginormous obstacle courses and even a mechanical bull, Balzac’s Insane Big Fun Inflatable Park is actually the largest of its kind in North America. Here, kids of all ages (even you, millennials) can race down their 30-foot slides, and jump across big wipe-out-style balls.

If you know – you know! Located in West Edmonton Mall, Galaxyland is the largest indoor amusement park in the world. With several rides including roller coasters, a mega drop, Ferris wheels, games, fun houses, and more, we’d definitely recommend adding this one to your Alberta must-visit list if you haven’t already!

Also located in West Ed, World Waterpark is another must-experience item. Here, guests can take a dive in their wave pool, fly down wild, wacky and daring slides, swing from end to end on their zip line, or just lounge around in a cabana or hot tub.

Celebrating Alberta’s rich history, Heritage Park takes its guests back in time to a different era where horse-drawn carriages were the norm, corsets were tight and top hats were a wardrobe staple. From a mini train to old-timey shops, houses, workshops, and old carnival rides – this Calgary destination is a local favorite.

Located in Red Deer Alberta, this unique tube park is another perfect-for-summer destination. Rent or bring your own inflatable donut, hop on in and sail the lazy river, lounge about on their “beach” or go golfing on their course. There’s an entire day’s worth of fun stuff to do!

Much like Calgary’s Heritage Park, Fort Edmonton is from a different time. In addition to their Midway, they’ve also got wagon and pony rides, a train several shops and themed eateries, an old school theatre, and a colorful Indigenous People’s experience.

From exotic animals like snakes and kangaroos, Cobb’s is a Calgary favorite – but for far more than their cuddly creatures. Here guests can enjoy rides and games, unique experiences, mini-golf, tractor rides, concession stands, and more!
